MAISON M: ALPINE CRAFT DISTILLERS
Maison M -M for Mountain- an environment dear to our heart. Out of love for our region, Savoie, and our village, Les Avanchers-Valmorel, we have created a craft distillery that respects traditional manufacturing techniques (gathering, distillation, blending) to produce unique, modern mountain spirits!
Roxane and Philippe: mountain lovers
ROXANE MENGOLI,
CO-FOUNDER
Hi, my name is Roxane and I’m 35 years old. After studying fashion in Albertville, I moved to Lyon, where I obtained a degree in interior architecture. After working for a few years in a design agency, I decided to return to the place of my childhood, surrounded by nature and my beloved mountains! People say I’m a hard worker with great organizational skills. I am also sensitive to beautiful things as well as art. So, you will not be surprised when I tell you that I really wanted a simple and elegant design for our bottles as befits our Maison M products.
PHILIPPE BODON,
CO-FOUNDER
My name is Philippe and I am 42 years old. I also happen to be Roxane’s partner both in life and in the distillery. I grew up amidst the hustle and bustle of the family restaurant, which is where my appreciation for good products originates from. Passionate about mountains and the great outdoors, I first set out on a sporting career. From there, I began learning about the intricate craft of wrought iron welding. It’s only a short step from a family restaurant to a distillery: the magic of stills always aroused my curiosity. These machines are as mysterious as they are fascinating! Roxane says of me (in all objectivity) that everything I do is perfectly well done! Maybe because I’m rigorous and committed.
Today, my mission is to preserve the mountains of our childhood with passion and authenticity.

JULIA DELOMÉNIE, GATHERER AND HERBALIST
“Hello, my name is Julia and I’m originally from the French Atlantic coast. My knowledge has been passed down from generation to generation. Having trained as a herbalist, I spend my time in the great outdoors, practising sports (hiking, skiing, horseback riding). Accompanied by my dog O’Neill, I roam the Alpine paths in search of wild plants, fruits and flowers that will be used to make the spirits at the distillery. Thanks to my job, I live in harmony with nature, but also with the Maison M team, which is like a small family. We all love nature and our local surroundings. If I were a flower, I’d be heather, in homage to my origins in the Landes region.”
JESSY MATRAT, IN CHARGE OF B2B COMMERCIAL RELATIONS
“Hi, my name is Jessy and I’m 22 years old. Always cheerful and genuine, my role at Maison M is to develop strong relationships with distributors. I go the extra mile to meet customer expectations. I take my job as an ongoing challenge, with new goals every time. This ties in with my passion for mountain sports, where I like to go beyond my limits. I’m also involved in the gathering, production and development stages. I find it very rewarding to be involved in the creative process from start to finish. If I were a plant, I’d be a mallow, because the Greeks considered it a sacred plant that freed the spirit.”
FANNY HARLIN, IN CHARGE OF COMMUNICATION AND CUSTOMER CARE FOR THE BOUTIQUE
“My name is Fanny and I’m 27 years old. I come from Moûtiers in Savoie. My role is to advise and help customers discover our products in the boutique. At the same time, I’m a self-employed graphic designer and screen printer, so I occasionally create supports and labels for Maison M. Like the rest of the team, I’m passionate about our mountains, winter sports, nature and good products. What motivates me daily is working in an environment that values nature and craftsmanship. If I were a flower, I’d be a dandelion, because for me it symbolizes lightness, freedom and travel. Furthermore, it grants wishes.”
Our responsible and sustainable approach
For us, managing our entire production chain is also a way of preserving the Alpine ecosystem. We are committed to developing a business that has a low impact on the environment. In this way, we contribute to the successful ecological transition of the Savoie region and the tourism prospects of tomorrow. Here’s an insight at what we’re doing to preserve our mountains:
‣ Sustainable gathering in the wild;
‣ Composted waste for natural spreading;
‣ Stills cooled with local spring water;
‣ Labels and machinery made by local suppliers.
